Not only is MC back, but now he/she has divine powers that can turn the tide of battle. Teleport can be a lifeline for a fragile squad or a great way to surprise the enemy while Exemplar can enable most units to take an incredible beating. Blessing can allow your most powerful squad to attack again or enable an outmatched squad to run for the hills. MC can also perform field revives now, in case someone falls (it can serve as a normal heal, if no one is down). Between this and temples, there is now quite a safety margin even with perma death enabled.
This map can be pretty tight with respect to the turn target, so try and send some squads north immediately after taking out the initial skirmishers while others head east to deal with the cavalry. Your powers will slowly recharge, so you can also speed things up by using blessing on one of your top squads as often as it refreshes.
The northern forces have quite a few archers, which aren’t too much of a threat as long as you don’t overexpose any fragile characters like mages. The horse archer squads will come right at you & can be summarily dealt with. Once they have been taken care of you can bait the wall based archers with low threat horse archer squads, which also dodge well in open terrain, and advance your melee forces right past & up the walls to take them out.
I lucked into a random Knight Captain leadership trait from a defeated enemy, which would fit Sybil pretty well I think. At least it would give her squad something to specialize in besides healing & could even still do some healing if valkyries were added. I recruited Konrad the Cold at the bazaar, which makes three unique mages, though the Outcast towers above the rest.
Interlude
Jaromir, another knight, joins up here. He has water element and his leadership skill is just for cold weather. Hmm, sorry Sybil! Knight Captain Jaromir it is & I happen to have a light affinity item sitting around to rocket his leadership into the stratosphere. This should set me for cavalry leaders and I’ll need to reorganize my existing horses a bit to field three majority melee cavalry squads.
